About In Your Corner
In Your Corner was created to fill the gap in support for employees navigating workplace challenges. When problems arise at work, many people don't know where to turn. They may not be a member of a Trade Union, may not feel that their situation warrants the cost of legal advice, or may simply want independent guidance before matters escalate. HR professionals have an important role in supporting organisations, which can sometimes leave employees unsure where to find completely independent advice. In Your Corner bridges that gap by offering a compassionate, professional partnership that puts your wellbeing and interests first. I provide the clarity and strategic guidance you need to regain control. With my unique blend of legal experience and experience on both sides of the table (as a Trade Union representative and HR professional), I am here to ensure you are heard, respected and prepared. My mission is to transform a stressful, intimidating experience into a manageable process by standing firmly by your side every step of the way.
Although In Your Corner primarily provides advice and support for employees, I also work with employers who recognise that supporting people well leads to better workplaces. I offer practical, independent support with employee relations, investigations, workplace conflict and complex people issues.
About Hayley
Looking back, my career has always centred around helping people. I began my career in law and practised as a legal aid solicitor, supporting people through some of the most challenging times in their lives. My career took a pivot when the eligibility rules for legal aid changed along with the Government in the late noughties, meaning that the charity I worked for folded overnight. I took my legal skills and found a role at a national trade union, standing beside employees and representing them in formal hearings, advocating for them, negotiating with employers, and advising and supporting them through difficult workplace situations. Disciplinary hearings, grievances and sickness absence hearings were my bread and butter. After a decade as a trade union representative, I began to see that I could make more of an impact on "the other side of the table" by bringing my empathetic and people-centred approach to Human Resources. I self-funded my CIPD Level 5 qualification in people management and worked in the private sector as an Employee Relations Manager for two years. After a second redundancy, I moved into the higher education sector as a Human Resources Manager, and I currently work at a senior level in the NHS as a Strategic Workforce Business Partner. In Your Corner brings together everything I've learned from standing beside people in crisis, working with employers, and navigating complex systems, so you don't have to face difficult workplace situations alone. When I'm not working, you'll usually find me spending time with my husband and daughters, walking my Labradoodle Buddy or tending to my ever-growing vegetable garden. Although I am legally qualified, the services provided by In Your Corner are workplace advisory services and do not constitute legal advice.
